About Us

Dublin for English (D4E) was established in 2009 and was based in Marian College in Dublin 4. It was set up by Donal & Kathy Donovan, who have more than 20 years experience in dealing with students in the language school sector and Kevin Lawlor, who has been a secondary school teacher for the past 30 years and a Deputy Principal since 1999.

In 2010 D4E opened a new centre in St. Michael’s College, Ailesbury Road, Dublin 4. The move to the new centre was necessary to accommodate a growing number of students and the expansion of the hugely successful “English & Rugby” course. This year also saw Kelvin Leahy, a former international rugby player and very experienced coach join the D4E team as head coach for the English & Rugby course.

Summer 2011 saw D4E opening an additional centre based in St Benildus College, Upper Kilmacud Road, Stillorgan, Co Dublin. The opening of this centre allowed for the expansion of the “General English” and “Four to One Intensive English” courses as well as the establishment of several new English & Sports courses such as “English & Soccer” and “English & Basketball”.

D4E is approved by the Advisory Council for English Language Schools (ACELS) and is recognised by the Department of Education and Science for the teaching of English as a foreign language.

In addition to the Summer Courses provided by D4E, a sister company, Shandon Language Solutions (SLS) specialises in placing overseas students in Irish schools, primary and secondary, both for short stay immersion programmes or for the full academic year. SLS also offers a combination of general English classes and work experiences placements and in recent years organises immersion programmes in partner schools throughout Europe for Irish students looking to improve a foreign language.
